Hard Drives and Storage

All used SCSI drives have been low-level formatted, then the media has been verified, using an Adaptec SCSI controller. (No error message during the format, and no errors or warnings during the media verification process.)

Further, due to the nature of used equipment, the price for each half dozen drives is based on the value of only 5 drives. As this makes allowance that for a small percentage of pieces, a problem with compatibility or reliability can reveal itself after the equipment was carefully tested.

7 drive SCSI 24x CD-ROM Tower . . . . . . . . . $75.00: Each drive was tested by successfully booting from a CD-ROM. The tower unit comes with 2 50-pin Centronics SCSI connectors, and a matching termination dongle. The three SCSI cables included with this tower are: 50-pin Centronics to 50-pin Centronics; 50-pin Centronics to 50-pin High-Density connector; and (Apple style) 50-pin Centronics to DB-25.
Used Off-White SCSI 12X CD-ROM Drives . . . . . . . . . $5.00/ea.: Used Toshiba XM-5701B drives that use a 50 pin ribbon cable connector. Drives only: no screws and no cables, but some extra jumpers are provided. These drives have been set to SCSI ID 0 and have termination enabled.
Refurbished 44X CD-ROM Drives . . . . . . . . . $5.00/ea.: Pine Technology Model PT-944A (ATA/ATAPI). Each of these drives was burned in by using it extensively for several days, after it had been serviced and appeared to be back in good working order.
